That Last Minute Christmas Rush - Slow Down - Save a Pet

As you're rushing to get everything ready for the holidays, driving all over town, checking off your list(s), it's not hard to get all wrapped up in the excitement of the last minute deals. Please slow down on the roads, especially in neighborhoods and rural areas so you can watch for pets and animals that may dart out unexpectedly. No one wants to spend the holidays mourning the loss of a pet, Even worse, you wouldn't want to be the one responsible for hurting someone's family pet right before a holiday celebration.

Driving Tips That May Help Save a Pet :

  • Slowing down just a few MPH can help you respond and brake in time
  • Use your high beams anytime there are no other drivers approaching in oncoming lanes, spotting animals eyes and body shapes from longer distances is much easier, and it helps the animal see you too.
  • Get to know where animals may cross roads in your area and pay close attention. Deer crossings increase during November to April and they tend to use regular paths.
  • While we love and them and need them - Hybrids and Electric vehicles are harder to hear for everyone, including animals. Adding a "deer whistle" to the front bumper can help at higher speeds (usually above 40 mph.) Be aware of your vehicles limitations when driving in crowded neighborhoods.
  • Always make lots of noise (bang on the hood, slam the door really well) when entering your vehicle on cold days, outdoor animals can burrow in your engine compartment for warmth...you don't want to know what happens.
Share your tips and pet holiday stories on our blog! Season's Greetings and please be safe the whole year!

How to Give Flower Essences to Your Cat or Dog

If you’ve ever found it difficult to give flower essences to your pet or did not find them very effective, here are some tips that can help.

Let’s talk about effectiveness first. Some formulas, like Bach Rescue Remedy, are so powerful that one undiluted drop licked off of the top of their paw is enough to notice an immediate difference. But since flower essences work vibrationally in your energetic field, the effect is often subtle at first; you have to administer the recommended daily dosage over a week to ten days to notice the full impact of the flower essence at work.

Most of the time, the bottle advises you to put 4 drops in a bowl of water. This can work just fine, but mainly for dogs that are not picky about their water. And some cats may not mind the altered taste of their drinking water either. But in my experience, many animals do notice the difference, and refusing to drink the water at all or drinking less water can lead to health ramifications.

Fortunately, there are alternatives for administering the flower essences. Just find the one that works best for you. In all of these examples, do not dilute the flower essence – just use it straight from the bottle.

1.       Put one drop on the top of their front paw or one drop on your finger and let them lick it off. Do this a total of 4 times a day for maximum benefit.

2.       Put a drop on your finger and then put it on their paw pad. You want to make direct contact with their skin so that it gets absorbed into system. Do this a total of 4 times a day, alternating sites so that their skin doesn’t become too dry from the alcohol carrier in the essence.

3.       Put a drop on your finger and then carefully put it on the inside tip of their ear where you can make contact with their skin. Be careful not to let it go into their ear canal. Again alternate sites for a total of 4 times a day. I usually alternate between the two ears and the four paws to best protect their skin.

4.       Instead of a dropper, use a spray top and spray some on your hands, then lightly touch their fur to transfer it to their shoulders. I have found this to a bit less effective of a method, but some pets will not tolerate any other way.

5.       You can spray it in their general vicinity, being careful not to get it in their eyes, but the “psssst” sound of the sprayer can be unpleasant to some animals.

If your pet has sensitivities and you want to use Bach Rescue Remedy, you can get a non-alcohol based version for animals. We’ve not used it, but check your favorite review based sites like http://amazon.com for product reviews.

We use many types of flower essences and brands (FES, Desert Alchemy, Alaskan FlowerEssences) for different purposes on ourselves and our pets and find them to be a highly effective tool. http://animalhealings.com/pet-product-comparisions.html . I even had the idea to use Rescue Remedy on our cat who frequently gets hiccups. Since hiccups are a muscle spasm and Rescue Remedy helps you relax, I thought it might work. And it has - every time, almost immediately - with just one drop. I just haven’t found the right dosage for human hiccups…yet.

Cat Suffering from PTSD Fear of Music Watches Todd Rundgren Web Cast

Nikki, age 16, suffering from a PTSD related issue from a fear of music most of her life, now watches Todd Rundgren on a live webcast. This is no small feat when you come to realize that for years this wonderful cat would react so negatively to music. Every time music was played around her (any type - on the stereo, or instruments, softly, it didn’t matter) her eyes would instantly dilate, she would panic, run and hide behind the couch, sometimes for hours.

Learn more on how professional animal communication, Todd Rundgren and a lot of our love and compassion helped her accomplish this task!

I’m so proud to share with you this short Youtube clip of Nikki enjoying a webcast of Todd Rundgren live – his “State” tour. ( The webcast is still available to order at that link) We were so surprised and happy when she jumped up on the couch, plopped right in front of the laptop and watch intently. It was entirely her choice to be with us during the show and she stayed right next to me for a majority of the broadcast. Todd Rundgren Tour Info. Jump around our site AnimalHealings.com to learn how animal communication also played a key role in Nikki overcoming her PTSD fear of music

What Can You Do About Pets Separation Anxiety?

As a professional Animal Communicator, my wife and I ask client's animals where the beginning of their separation anxiety issue started. It is when we know what the pet is suffering from - the source of where all these pent-up separation feelings began, that we can then address and help fix the separation anxiety issues - no matter how severe the problems may appear. Many times separation anxiety symptoms appear with rescued pet that has been in one or two previous families who may have created the situation long before you adopted your pet. It's no one's fault, but it's time to get proper help for your furry family member. We can address issues going back as far as your pet need to and begin the journey to healing. It often only takes understanding to help heal separation anxiety. There are more behavioral steps once you know what the issues are, however, knowledge of the problem is always the key to the solution - otherwise you can only guess at what your pet is reacting and what might help. A Real Florida Cougar

A "Real Florida Cougar" - Named Lucy

Talking with Your Pets Every Day

People that have the best experiences with their pets are the people that communicate with them on a regular basis. There's no trick to it and you don't have to be a trained animal communicator to create an environment of communication with your pets. There can be many ways to communicate with your pets too. There's talking of course, eye contact (although some breeds may become agitated with long direct contact - know your breeds,) smiling and praise, petting and affectionate contact, play and enrichment activities, singing, head and facial gestures, and numerous other forms of contact.

The first rule of thumb is to realize that your pets are intelligent, conscience, aware, complex, thinking, individuals, that are very capable of understanding you. A panel of today's leading scientists (including Dr Stephen Hawking) recently proclaimed animal and human consciousness the same.

It helps to start when they are young pups or kittens, but it's not necessary, even an older adopted pet will understand you if given the chance and all the love in the world.

How Did My Indoor Cat or Dog Get Fleas?

There's usually one good answer to this puzzling question - you or one of your human family members!

So how and why did you bring fleas into the house? You didn't roll around on the grass with Rocky and all the neighbors' hounds - right? Did you take an afternoon nap under the trees with the Jones' orange tabby last week? I didn't think so!

Fleas tend to jump onto your pants legs and other body areas (smelling or sensing your warm blood - their food)  when you walk across grass, brush by bushes, common public areas, even just a door mat where other animals have been.  If you live in an apartment building or townhouse the concentration of pets in your area make it even hard to control fleas. People walk their dogs by your entrance or common walkways numerous times per day. if you use an elevator, it increases the likelihood by thousands of times per day since your neighbors probably walk their dogs via the elevator, and you and your pets are a very captive audience....

Midnight Intruders Cause Big Problems For Your Pets!

Well it's happened again. We have a new client with animal intruder issues in their yard. We were told by their 2 cats during an Animal communicator session that an orange tabby and a grubby, smelly wildlife "thing" (we later thought was a groundhog or Opossum) was coming into their yard at night. The pet parents had never seen either intruders. During the night the client setup a wildlife cam and caught both intruder's images (to the left both images are shown) As animal communicators  we call that a double confirmation! We have already started to help with Displaced aggression in pets issues with the pets indoors are going through from this type of problem.

If your pet is showing sudden, unexplained aggression issues, you should set up an animal communication check-in with us, you never know what is going on until you actually talk with your pet. You can start your animal communication session sign up here online.

In The Naming of Cats, Can an Animal Communicator Help You Understand Your Cat's Real Name?

In the Sci-Fi film classic Logan's Run,  two-time Academy Award-winning actor Peter Ustinov, surrounded by several hundred cats, explains the naming of cats and why they all have three names in this folklore poem...

The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.

First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey -
All of them sensible everyday names.

There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter -
But all of them sensible everyday names.

But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?

Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum -
Names that never belong to more than one cat.

But above and beyond there's still one name left over,
And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover -
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess

Now to go beyond this legendary poem, as animal communicators we can dig deeper into cat (and pet) names. Cats within their own circles have names for each other. Animals communicate telepathically, so there are names that they share and recognize each other by within their own communication means. Sometimes these names can correspond very closely (if not exactly) to the pet family names we have chosen.
