How to Give Flower Essences to Your Cat or Dog
If you’ve ever found it difficult to give flower essences to
your pet or did not find them very effective, here are some tips that can help.
We use many types of flower essences and brands (FES, Desert Alchemy, Alaskan FlowerEssences) for different purposes on ourselves and our pets and find them to be a highly effective tool. http://animalhealings.com/pet-product-comparisions.html . I even had the idea to use Rescue Remedy on our cat who frequently gets hiccups. Since hiccups are a muscle spasm and Rescue Remedy helps you relax, I thought it might work. And it has - every time, almost immediately - with just one drop. I just haven’t found the right dosage for human hiccups…yet.
Let’s talk about effectiveness first. Some formulas, like
Bach Rescue Remedy, are so powerful that one undiluted drop licked off of the
top of their paw is enough to notice an immediate difference. But since flower
essences work vibrationally in your energetic field, the effect is often subtle
at first; you have to administer the recommended daily dosage over a week to
ten days to notice the full impact of the flower essence at work.
Most of the time, the bottle advises you to put 4 drops in a
bowl of water. This can work just fine, but mainly for dogs that are not picky
about their water. And some cats may not mind the altered taste of their
drinking water either. But in my experience, many animals do notice the
difference, and refusing to drink the water at all or drinking less water can
lead to health ramifications.
Fortunately, there are alternatives for administering the
flower essences. Just find the one that works best for you. In all of these
examples, do not dilute the flower essence – just use it straight from the
bottle.
1.
Put one drop on the top of their front paw or
one drop on your finger and let them lick it off. Do this a total of 4 times a
day for maximum benefit.
2.
Put a drop on your finger and then put it on
their paw pad. You want to make direct contact with their skin so that it gets
absorbed into system. Do this a total of 4 times a day, alternating sites so
that their skin doesn’t become too dry from the alcohol carrier in the essence.
3.
Put a drop on your finger and then carefully put
it on the inside tip of their ear where you can make contact with their skin.
Be careful not to let it go into their ear canal. Again alternate sites for a
total of 4 times a day. I usually alternate between the two ears and the four
paws to best protect their skin.
4.
Instead of a dropper, use a spray top and spray
some on your hands, then lightly touch their fur to transfer it to their
shoulders. I have found this to a bit less effective of a method, but some pets
will not tolerate any other way.
5.
You can spray it in their general vicinity,
being careful not to get it in their eyes, but the “psssst” sound of the
sprayer can be unpleasant to some animals.
If your pet has sensitivities and you want to
use Bach Rescue Remedy, you can get a non-alcohol based version for animals. We’ve
not used it, but check your favorite review based sites like http://amazon.com for product reviews.
